BACKGROUND:
Luxord on the Kingdom Hearts Wiki Warning: this may end up containing spoilers for KH3 Re:Mind if they are leaked.

PERSONALITY:

Luxord is a very well spoken and poised sort of man, speaking to quite a degree of education somewhere in his distant past. Because of this he puts a bit more thought into the role he plays in other people's plots. And, of course, how to move people into positions he desires. Luxord rarely takes direct actions in the plots of the Organization unless set to a specific task, and when he is set a task, he makes use of the rules and laws built around him in the cultures he's working within to better allow him to manipulate ends to his desires. This is reflected in making use of pirate parley culture to get close to information he desires, conning Jack Sparrow into providing information that he needs in search of a certain box, and even ultimately using Larxene and Marluxia as shields in a battle against Sora. One might even say that his education and manipulative tactics are reflected in his very manner of fighting, where he manipulates time and traps opponents in cards, working them into situations where he has an advantage over others.

He also has a very serious fixation upon games of chance, enough that it not only colors his language, but his manners of acting. If he wants something from someone, he doesn't merely ask for it. Instead he challenges them to some came of skill and luck or other, and then tries to alter odds to his favor. A boat race against Captain Jack Sparrow that he starts to lose Luxord tries to gain an edge by shooting on Captain Jack's boat, as well as putting ships of heartless in the path of the heroes. Even among his own comrades Luxord is prone to these games, starting a poker group among the Organization and coming to lament the slow loss of his fellow players.

Another important thing to note in Luxord is an undercurrent of defying fate, luck, and odds. He specifically notes once to Roxas that 'Only a fool bends to the cards. We shape our fates through action.' And goes on later to compare their roles within the organization to pawns. He even applauds Axel for taking an action that not only led to Axel's destruction, but caused Axel to be revived as a person again in Lea. While the other members of the Organization see this as an end to Axel's existence, Luxord very specifically defies the opinions of the others and says that while Axel put his being on the line, he won through the very act of dying. He defied the goals of the Organization and Nobodies and by doing so actually gained what most of the organization sought: his heart and his life back. But the biggest symbol of this belief in defying fate and luck, for all that he talks about luck and winning games, is how he treats Sora after he loses their final duel. Luxord supposedly mirrored the goals of the Organization, and yet upon his defeat he gives Sora a card, saying that he should hold on to it because it might just turn the tables. What this means, though, is still a mystery. But given Luxord's previous conversations on Sora having a fate that he must walk and how he could 'help' along that path, it's entirely possible he is trying to help someone else fight the yoke of predestination that everyone tied up in the conflict of KH3 seem to be struggling under.

But ultimately the most important thing to remember is that most of this, most of how Luxord expresses himself and emotes is just an act. Luxord is a Nobody, a person without a heart, and has been so for quite a long time. While he is capable of IMITATING emotions to a degree, he is not truly moved by them. To lose ones heart in his realm and come through without it as a Nobody means that he completely lacks emotions. He cannot feel love or sorrow or hatred. Instead he can only act how he remembers those feelings being, from a past he cannot remember. This could change if he gained a heart, but in the mean time Luxord is, at his core, an intellectual creature because it isn't even POSSIBLE for him to be an emotional one.

POWER:

Nobody Powers
Luxord is the Nobody of an unknown individual from the age of the Keyblade Wars, effectively the lingering shell of an individual without a heart and thus true emotions. Part of being a nobody is a specific powers to which Luxord has years of experience and skill with wielding.

  • Dark Corridors: Luxord can open dark corridors, which are person-sized wormholes that allow travel between locations. It's not entirely teleportation because one still has to walk the corridor and they can be dangerous because they travel through the parallel realm of darkness which is filled with dangerous creatures. It is possible to become lost in this realm if unfamiliar with it or unguided, and the inherent powers of it can wear away at a body without sufficient protection. He can travel through these alone or guiding others, and while he will be safe due to possession of his cloak see below, others would be at risk from repeated exposure. These corridors used to allow travel between worlds and within a world itself, but here Luxord cannot use them to travel outside of the bounds of the United States. To attempt to do so will ALWAYS dump him in Heropa for unknown reasons. Along with this he is in possession of a Dark Coat characteristic of Organization XIII, a unified force of first Nobodies under Xemnas, and then of vessels of Darkness under Xehanort. These coats have an unknown origin but allow one to traverse through corridors of darkness without coming to harm, as well as endowing some measure of protection from shadow/dark magic. Other than that, it's just a dashing look, is it not?

  • Minions: As part of the Organization and nature of being a nobody with a Human form, Luxord is capable of commanding squads of lower class gambler-class nobodies. These are the husk remains of the bodies of people who have lost their hearts but not had a strong enough sense of self to retain a human form and full sapience. They are smart enough to follow simple commands. For the purposes of this game and due to their comparative power level and skills, Luxord would be able to summon and command no more than four of these at once, and their powers here are limited, losing all of their time-distorting aspects. Instead they will attack with only cards and dice, the former slashing and shielding and the latter dealing magical damage 'relative' to the roll of the two dice they carry. Snake-eyes will hurt the Gamblers themselves enough to dismiss them, a pair of sixes can deal heavy damage. Either way Gamblers do not have very much durability themselves and will be easily felled with minimal physical or magical attacks that they do not block with their cards. Once a summoned Gambler is defeated, it cannot be summoned again for a week. As a note, if actual Nobodies were to enter the game, Luxord would still be able to exert his will over Gambler versions of them, as well as other nobodies, but he will not have AS MUCH control over those, especially if another person with nobody control powers are around to countermand his orders.

  • Time Manipulation: Each of the major Nobodies have an element to which they are attuned and they can command magically. For Luxord this is time itself, and it is severely hampered here. What he is able to do is create a very small bubble of fluctuating time around himself. In that space he has control over the flow of time relative to the world around him. He can either stop time for five minutes, or speed up the flow of time so that he travels up to five minutes into the future. The stopping of time he can manage only once every six hours. The speeding up in five minute increments he can do up to a value of passing two hours of time in a twenty four hour period. Think of it as the worst version of a video game 'wait' skill as you can get. But hey, he can use it to skip to the part where his tea water is boiled. Each of these effects only cover a six and a half foot sphere around him, and anyone in that space is subject to it. When the bubble is in effect it cannot be passed into or out of. However anything that straddles the line, partially in and partially out, counts as fully out and suffers NO ill repercussions. This means the bubble cannot be used to cause harm to someone, cannot penetrate the ground or ceilings or walls of buildings, and mostly ultimately only acts as a dome.

Card Magic
A form of magic anchored primarily in Luxord's weapon of choice, a deck of cards known as Fair Game, which is at first glance a plain deck of playing cards with a unique artistic design related to the mark of the Nobody. The cards are the focus of magic that allows Luxord to manipulate them in a number of ways. While they look and feel like cards in most hands, when he needs to fight, the magic is activated with a thought making the cards durable and razor sharp to act as ideal throwing weapons. The cards will also ALWAYS return to his hands, or can hover independently around him. Luxord can cause the cards to grow in size to a height of six feet to serve as hardened shields or platforms. He is also capable of storing item a single item within each individual card and calling those items back out, but no matter the size of the card, he can store nothing larger than a book or that weighs more than three pounds. He also must be able to expand the cards to open them enough to access the item. All of this is controlled by a series of long practiced gestures, making them practically instinct to Luxord, allowing him to fight and defend himself on the fly. That being said, he can also command the cards to rearrange themselves within the deck, changing faces so that when he was GOING to draw a three he gets a king instead. It's all part of manipulating the inherent state of the cards themselves.

Of all of these powers he can copy the abilities of the Fair Game onto a second deck, but only ever one other deck at a time. And even then he can copy only the durability and sharpness for fighting, and the ability to make the cards hover/fly around him and return to his hand afterward. There is no ability to change their size, store small items, or change the order of the cards in his hands without shuffling them. This magic cannot be copied into ANY item but a deck of cards, no more than 52 cards, and all in playing card proportions.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

Good afternoon all. Or evening, as the situation might be in some cases. I have come to propose something to those parties willing to test just how friendly of terms they are with Lady Luck herself. It would seem that my normal companions for a few rounds of cards are not present in this place, and I could stand to find myself a new circle. So I will cover some small level of snacks and a table to play at, and a few people to fill the seats with me.

Who knows, we might even decide to push our acquaintances of the lady with a bit of financial transaction at that. Nothing wagered, after all, nothing gained.
